To complete the World's 1st full Ocean swim, every single mile of The Atlantic Ocean, 2000 miles from Africa - Brazil for charity: Jan 2016
Ben Hooper, age 36, was born in London, United Kingdom. Having survived premature birth, collapsed lungs and death in ICU at birth, as a five year old child he once again escaped death when involved in a swimming accident in Belgium, requiring CPR by the poolside. Instead of instilling a fear of water, this incident served to enthuse him and drive his love of water and the sea. As a teenager he competed in his first long-distance swim, which was for charity. When he grew older, Ben moved to training for open-water distance swims and triathlon competitions. Those distances slowly grew longer and longer with each passing year. As an adult, Ben served with the military, police, and worked within the mental health and psychology fields. When he’s not swimming, he’s writing fiction, free diving, and scuba diving. In the end, his love of open water and swimming are second only to being a father. The Swim The Big Blue long distance swimming adventure aims to provide inspiration and create a lasting legacy through the formation of a sports foundation, and water safety education programme UK-wide.
